I chose cards because it is one of my family's favorite past times. Whenever we are camping, on vacation, on the beach, or just at home, we would pull out a deck of cards and play. For these photos, I wanted to spread the cards out so it would look like they were just thrown on the table. I also wanted a darker look because it looks cool with the red and black of the cards.
The candy is glowing (neon glow)
The cult of candy (fresco)
Some nice sour candy
The cult of candy, but in the day (film grain)
I chose this candy, because it is one of my favorite sour candy's. Whenever I am at the gas station with my parents, I would get this candy as my go to. For these photos, I first laid them all out to get some overhead and front pictures of them. Next I stood them up and put them all around some other candy.
Cool Shades (cut out)
Looking at you (dry brush)
Looking both ways
Grainy cool shades (colored pencil)
I picked sun glasses because I use them a lot. Whenever I'm driving in the car, or I'm on the boat, or I'm going to downtown Ann Arbor, I'm wearing sun glasses. I first conjoined the sunglasses together because I thought it would be a cool look. I then separated the sunglasses and had one looking at the camera.
Pucks standing up
Rough pucks (rough pastels)
Behold the pucks (smudge stick)
Lots of scratches (poster edges)
I chose hockey pucks because I play hockey. I started playing hockey when I was 11 and now I'm playing hockey for Skyline. I took these photos on a synthetic ice platform. I took some of these photos over head a on the corner of these hockey pucks. I like the overhead one the most because the background makes it look as if it is on real ice.
DVDs in the void
DVDs wrapped in plastic (plastic wrap)
Rainbow DVDs (palette knife)
Painted DVDs (paint daubs)
I chose DVDs because movies are my favorite. DVDs were a big part of my early childhood. There used to be a family video near my house, and we used to go there every week and pick up DVDs. It was really sad when it shut down a few years ago. I chose to put the DVDs on top of each other because it looks cool. I also liked the overhead angle of the DVDs because when the light was hitting it, it created a rainbow effect on them.
